Being in my hometown this summer, away from the turquoise sea that I love so dearly, has brought a new vista of delights. It has refreshed me -not only because Calgary is close to the rocky mountains, and therefore cool and dry as opposed to flat and humid in the Caribbean, but also because there are endless new delights at my doorstep for the mind to ponder and enjoy.

We are blessed to be living close to the Bow River, and within walking distance to Prince’s Island, which is what many folks consider to be Calgary’s own Central Park. I walk around it daily, always with my camera at the ready. I have captured so many delights, which I am including with this blog.

The most profound significance and interconnectedness can be found in nature, from the noisy Canada geese to the scented petals of the Alberta wild rose. This endless vista reminds me of William Blake’s poem from Auguries of Innocence.

To see a World in a Grain of Sand

And Heaven in a Wild Flower,

Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand

And Eternity in an hour

My walks offer me an escape from our usual narrative perspective. They are quiet therapy in a noisy world.
